          they should ask you to bring the usual documents -

          make sure you get a copy of any document you sign -

          you - will , get better at this as time goes on - as you get more experience -

          its a quasi crap shoot - you're on your own son.  Not much has changed in 50 years, maybe the electronics - but that much -

          don't fill-in any applications over the internet.  Call them, ask about the type of work they are offering - and so on.  Talk and find out more.  You are on your own.

          Check every day for two weeks, then check again for another two.  Some ads are clever - so pay attention, please.

          also a good place, ok, you ask "do you hire owner/operators ?" -

          let the conversation go from there - 

          get an address, be careful,  Its like a snake pit.  You are on your own.

          Stick to courier type work with a bill of lading - from the contractor -

          and so on .

          be careful not to fill out any applications or questionnaires or mailings list.  Why, there is no need to do it.  Get the phone Number and call.  Do everything in person.

          get the address - and chance whatever.  You are on your own.  What else do you have to lose.

The AICVOA does not find people work.  The AICVOA does not have job placement programs for individuals seeking ICVO work. - maybe in the future...

 

Looking For Work  is a very complicated topic.  Each person and company you encounter has its own set of rules and problems.  That is why finding lawfully-begotten ICVO work is a semi-gamble.  Hence another reason for the AICVOA's existance.  The AICVOA is committed to taking the mystery out of job-hunting, and other certain darker areas of job-hunting - that a person looking for work will encounter.  Newspaper Classified ads can involve - not being an ad for delivery work at all - but for something else entirely.  Read the ad carefully.  Listen carefully to what people say, when they give you an answer to one of your questions, while you are speaking to them on the phone.  Proceed slower, and see where the path leads.
