This is the ICVO's Courier "Code of Conduct"
Welcome to the Courier "Code of Conduct" section. The subject is as serious as the title suggests. As civilized people, our decisions are guided by our value system. In order to function, get along and thrive, ICVO's is no exception. An ICVO must adhere to "certain basic rules" of society in order to be productive. The Courier "Code of Conduct" exist to ensure that certain rules of behavior are being followed.
The Courier "Code of Conduct" was constructed on November 10, 2015 by the AICVOA to ensure that all ICVO's can provide consistent SPPD Service nationwide, under the usual circumstances. ICVO's have been called, among other things, Our Ambassador and An Extension of Our Company. An ICVO while on the job, is a special agent, he (or she) is a representative of the client to some degree. The ICVO is the bringer of something special or vital materials or very important documents. The ICVO work is of high importance. The ICVO viewed as of high importance. The Couriers reach is nationwide, from coast to coast.
While an ICVO is doing or performing a "job", he or she will demonstrate the following rules of behavior:
SECTION 100 - Scheduling non-conformity.
100.1 - All ICVO's will show up to work on time.
100.2 - All ICVO's will not show up late and make excuses.
100.3 - Any ICVO's that do show up to work tardy or not show up at all will be subject to disciplinary action.
100.4 - Punishment or disciplinary action for violating CCOC-100.3 is: suspension from regular courier service duty for 4(four) days, and a permanent blemish on their AICVOA driver profile record and will remain in the file forever - or the next closest thing.
SECTION 200 - Demeanor during Pick-Up's and Deliveries.
200.1 - All ICVO's will demonstrate a quiet manner .
200.2 - All ICVO's will maintain a quiet manner during a situation that appears to be getting out-of-hand .
200.3 - All ICVO's must be alert to the fact that people (most of functional America) are antagonistic in nature. An ICVO's will respond using words, with the least amount of argumentative language. The Couriers "side" of the story or argument will be conveyed by the ICVO clearly and plainly. Words of a simple direct nature will be used.
200.4 - All ICVO's will refrain from perpetuating an argument by not adding extemporaneous information to the conversation and/or argument. If the Consignee and/or Consignor is being uncooperative and not following the ICVO's instructions, the ICVO can simply walk away, and return to his vehicle. Electronic surveillance can and will be used as evidence to corroborate the ICVO's explanation as to the circumstances surrounding the situation in question.
200.5 - The ICVO is not obligated in any way to give an opinion or criticize any "Items or Cargo" unless the situation specifically requires it. When a ICVO is spoken to and asked a "subjective" question or statement, regarding their personal and/or professional opinion regarding any item(s) or cargo, the ICVO is not and will not be obligated in any way to give an answer and/or reply to that question and/or statement.
200.6 - An ICVO's actions (Mental then to Physical), while on the job , are specifically related to doing his (or her) job, (performing P/U's and Deliveries). Any action or inaction that an ICVO might take (during the course of and duration of a work-order), is and will be 100% justified, and purely work related. The ICVO's actions may have been unavoidable, and therefore required.
200.7 - An ICVO must walk away from insane individuals. Pick Up's and Deliveries are simple mental, verbal, and physical tasks. 99 times out of 100 the consignor is expecting the items or cargo you are delivering -so - this means no problems. There is that one that slipped through the cracks, and, this one person will create hassles for the ICVO. An ICVO must constantly be vigilant in keeping an eye out for troublemakers. An ICVO must be extremely cautious as to his (or her) actions in dealing with insane people. Electronic surveillance can and will be used as evidence to corroborate the ICVO's explanation as to the circumstances surrounding the situation in question.
SECTION 300 - Greetings and Salutations.
300.1 - All ICVO's will maintain a upbeat and slightly-confident attitude when engaged in verbal conversations people involved with a particular SPPD.
300.2 - All ICVO's must address Consignees and Consignors as yes or no - "sir" or ma’am or miss", and maintain a hospitable relationship for the brief few-minutes the ICVO is engaged with the Consignee and Consignor. These people are the most important people involved, in there being a secured party or authorized signature for the paperwork to be in-order, and for the completion of the pick-up and delivery process.
300.3 - All ICVO's should not speak obscene and/or vulgar words when in public or around strangers. These people don't know who you are - don't show them this bad side. An ICVO's must not cross this line. Electronic surveillance can and will be used as evidence to corroborate the ICVO's explanation as to the circumstances surrounding the situation in question.
The Courier Code of Conduct is continually assessed for substance. These rules are the first group of rules to be part of our historic legacy of the AICVOA. More will soon come.
